Supplier Diversity Mission Statement Kmart is committed to improving the economic position of minority owned businesses. Our diverse store locations require that we go above and beyond to meet our customers’ expectations. It is our goal to actively seek qualified, reliable, minority owned vendors that can provide a strategic advantage to Kmart. Corporate Membership As part of our commitment to minority owned businesses, we are members of the following organizations: National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), National Minority Supplier Diversity Council (NMDSC) and Michigan Minority Supplier Diversity Council (MMSDC). To find out more about these organizations, please visit their websites. We actively use these organizations as a basis for supporting our initiatives. We participate in trade shows as well as use the vendor data bases from these organizations to search for qualified minority owned vendor candidates. Certification Requirements Kmart does recommend that minority owned businesses obtain minority status certification. We do not dictate how a company is certified. We recommend applying for certification through one of the local or national chapters of one of the minority organizations. If you become a Kmart vendor "partner", you will be asked to provide proof of certification. |
