Simply stated, we want to buy what the American consumer wants to buy.
Our primary interest is to provide high-quality merchandise at competitive prices. We are always seeking good, reliable firms that manufacture or distribute these products.
Virtually all buying of merchandise for Kmart is done centrally through our buying offices. Our stores do not buy merchandise locally unless approved by these buying offices.
Our buyers, with expertise in their lines of merchandise, serve as major sources of contact between the company and each of its suppliers of merchandise for resale.
