HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, OH /diversitybusiness.com/ The National Association
of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Cleveland has named Barbara O. Brown and
Margaret P. Flynn of BrownFlynn Communications to the "Top 10 Women Business
Owners of Northeast Ohio" for 2002.
Brown and Flynn are co-owners of BrownFlynn Communications, a marketing
communications firm specializing in community relationship management.
Utilizing a council of experts, BrownFlynn helps organizations leverage their
investment in the community through innovative strategic philanthropy and
social marketing initiatives.
Established in 1996, the firm has grown from a two-person firm serving one
client to an eight-person firm serving a variety of clients. Recently, the
firm was recognized as a Weatherhead 100 "upstarts" winner, a finalist of
SBN's "Innovators in Business" award and earned certifications as a women-
owned firm by the City of Cleveland and the National Women Business Owners
Corporation (NWBOC).
"Being recognized as a Top 10 Women Business Owner shows that it is
possible to create a successful and unique business environment based upon
ideals," Flynn said. "As the author Anna Quindlen wrote, 'All of us want to do
well. But if we do not do good, too, then doing well will never be enough.'
The core of our business is based on this belief."
The NAWBO honorees were selected by an independent panel of judges who
based their decisions upon excellence as business owners, professional
accomplishments, initiative and creativity and civic involvement. A
celebratory luncheon will be held on Monday, May 13, 2002 at the Marriott Key
Center where Mayor Jane Campbell will deliver opening remarks.
