United Technologies Celebrates Diverse Global Network of Suppliers

Hartford, CT / October 10, 2011 / -Around the world, United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) relies upon diverse suppliers to help get the job done – whether it is building jet engines, creating energy efficient air conditioners or installing elevators. United Technologies recognized its diverse suppliers at the 10th Annual Diverse Business Exchange during Oct. 4 activities at the Connecticut Convention Center in downtown Hartford.
 “These suppliers impact everything we do, every day, across UTC,” said Eileen P. Drake, UTC Vice President Operations. “The Diverse Business Exchange is one important way that United Technologies works with our suppliers so we can help each other grow and prosper.”
This year, more than 200 suppliers and United Technologies representatives attended the event and shared best practices. In the past four years, United Technologies has spent more than 4 billion with minority and women-owned businesses.
“For more than three decades, United Technologies has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to NMSDC and our certified Asian, Black, Hispanic and Native American business owners,” said National Minority Supplier Development Council President Joset Wright, the keynote speaker for this year’s Diverse Business Exchange. “Under the leadership of CEO Louis Chênevert – the 2011 recipient of our Minority Business Leadership Award – UTC continues to support the development of minority suppliers through initiatives like this DBX and its training and mentoring programs.”
United Technologies was also recognzied as the number 12 “Top 50 Organizations for Multicultural Business Opportunities" by DiversityBusiness.com.
