Importance of M/WBE Certfication in Light of Local Law 129 Kerri Jew - Deputy Commission, Division of Economic and Financial Opportunity, New York Department of Small Business Services Kerri Jew is the Deputy Commissioner for the Division of Economic and Financial Opportunity at the New York City Department of Small Business Services. In this role, she oversees the City’s Minority- and Women-owned Business Enterprise (“M/WBE”) program and the initiatives under Executive Order 50 that were created to ensure parity in the hiring practices of City contractors. Kerri has worked to shape City policies to ensure the fair and meaningful participation of certified M/WBEs in winning City contracts and to expand the City’s oversight of its contractors to ensure compliance with applicable equal employment opportunity laws.
