WELLS FARGO, UNITED STATES HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HONOR DISTINGUISHED LATINO BUSINESS OWNERS
SACRAMENTO, CA – October 24, 2008 / -- DiversityBusiness.com /- For the second consecutive year, Wells Fargo & Company (NYSE: WFC) and the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) honored two Latino business owners with the Wells Fargo/USHCC Hispanic Businesswoman and Hispanic Businessman of the Year Awards. The 2008 awardees are Sandra Sedillo McGlothlin, owner of Fort Worth, Texas-based Empire Disposal Ltd., and Michael Zambrana, owner of Pangea, Inc., in St. Louis.

McGlothlin and Zambrana were honored and each received a $5,000 check at the annual USHCC Annual National Convention & Business Expo in Sacramento, Calif. The winners were selected from a nationwide pool and were evaluated based on their company’s business performance, innovation, growth and personal service to the community.

Empire Disposal Ltd. provides commercial and industrial waste services for construction and renovation projects. The company sets itself apart from competitors by managing an industry-leading system of waste services, providing clients with timely, guaranteed service. Ms. McGlothlin has served as a Fort Worth Hispanic Chamber of Commerce board member since 2003 and currently serves as chair-elect. She has contributed to numerous organizations in her local community, and successfully negotiated the opening of a second Mexican Consulate office in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

Pangea, Inc., provides civil and facility construction, engineering and surveying to federal agencies and private companies throughout the U.S. The company also provides environmental remediation, waste management and decommissioning and decontamination services. Mr. Zambrana is the past president and current board member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan St. Louis, and is on the Board of Directors of the International Institute, which provides language, job training and placement, counseling and support services for immigrants to St. Louis. He also serves as a member of the St. Louis Minority Business Council, and on the Diversity Committee of the St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers.
